Description of the function

What is IP whitelisting?

IP whitelisting is an access control method where only certain IP addresses are allowed to connect to your Calenso dashboard. All other IP addresses are blocked, which provides an additional shield against unauthorized access.

Essential aspects of an IP address

An IP address (Internet Protocol) is a unique combination of numbers assigned to each device on a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. There are two main types of IP addresses:

  • IPv4: Consists of four blocks of numbers separated by dots (e.g. 192.168.1.1).
  • IPv6: Consists of eight groups of four hexadecimal digits separated by colons (e.g. 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334).

Advantages of IP whitelisting

  • Increased security: Only authorized IP addresses can access your dashboard.
  • Controlled access: You can determine exactly which users or networks have access.
  • Protection against cyber attacks: Reduces the risk of brute force attacks and other malicious activity.

Setting up IP whitelisting

Where can I find the security settings?

Navigate to the security settings under Settings / Security:

Add IP addresses

Add the relevant IP addresses:

  • Enter the relevant IP addresses in the corresponding field.

    Use the IPv4 format.

  • Press Enter each time you enter an IP address to add it

After several IP addresses have been added, the view looks like this.

How do I find out my IP address?

Contact your IT department to find out your IP address or bandwidth. You can also use relevant websites such as whatismyipaddress.com .

Important

Make sure that your own IP address has been added!

If you log out or your session is automatically terminated after 24 hours and your IP address has not yet been added, you will no longer be able to log in to the Calenso Dashboard.

In this case, please contact Calenso Support at [email protected].

Summary

IP whitelisting is an effective way to increase the security of your Calenso dashboard by restricting access to authorized IP addresses. By adding specific IP addresses, you can ensure that only trusted devices and users can access your system.
