Since Calenso version 4.15.0 Calenso supports PayPal as online payment provider. This article describes how to connect PayPal with Calenso and how a payment via PayPal is processed exactly.

Requirements

  • A PayPal Business Account which is verified (confirmed email address)
  • A PayPal Client ID
  • A PayPal client secret

Connect PayPal with Calenso

Log in at https://developer.paypal.com/home with your PayPal Business Account.

Navigate to https://developer.paypal.com/developer/applications and select "Live" at the top:

Now open the Calenso dashboard and navigate to https://dashboard.calenso.com/app/settings/paypal. Paste the previously copied Client ID and Secret into the form, accept the fees and click "Save":

Calenso will now check if PayPal can be added without any problems. If the credentials are not correct, an error message will be displayed. In case of a successful connection, it will be displayed like this:

Appointment booking with PayPal

Now make sure you have defined a service with a price. Open the booking widget with your booking name and click through the booking widget. At the end you will be asked how you want to pay the open amount. Now select "PayPal":

If you want to apply a discount code, you can click the "I want to apply a discount code" link:

If this is accepted, then you can click on the orange "PayPal" button. The PayPal payment window will now open:

Log in with your PayPal payment account and click "Pay now". After that you will be redirected back to Calenso. If the payment was successful, a green message will be displayed and the "Book" button will become active. After that click on "Book":

The email message now says that the amount was paid with PayPal:

On the customer booking page it says that the appointment was successfully paid with PayPal. The customer sees the payment confirmation in his account, the partner sees the payment receipt in his PayPal account.

Fees

As confirmed in the initial connection, an online booking via PayPal costs 0.5 CHF or 0.5 EUR.  More about this here.
